Tavira

Explore the Algarve like a local

Instead ofgoing for the “default” touristy trip why not try to spice it up and travel like a local? Here is our insider guide for Tavria, Loulé, Fuseta and Olhao.

Tavira

Ready for an adventure off-base? Pay a visit to charming Tavira, which is just a 15 minutes’ drive
away. Take a walk along the Gilão river and enjoy the panoramic view from the castle tower.

Hungry? Stop by at Originato or Avant-Garde. And did you know Tavira is located just near the Ria
Formosa Nature Reserve? Consider a boat tour to explore!

Loulé

Longing for a day in the mountains? Take a scenic drive to Loulé and start the day with a good coffee
and an irresistible Pastel de nata at Spot na Serra. Stretch your legs afterwards taking a walk on Via
Algarviana and enjoy the views. End with a cocktail and shared dishes at The Owl. Prefer more
casual? Go for the well-known ‘Frango Piri Piri’ at Luis dos Frangos. You won’t regret!

Fuseta

Fuseta is a small fishing village just a 15 minutes’ drive from our base. A great way to take in the
beautiful scenery is from a sailing boat. You get to sail through the Ria Formosa, go for swims in the
clear waters and if you’re lucky you might even spot some dolphins.

For freshly grilled fish visit restaurant A Lota or Casa Corvo. Finger licking good! And did you know
Fuseta even has its own micro-brewery? NanoBrew Fuzeta is an excellent place to have a drink in
the evening. You can try a few different craft beers and find your favourite. Sunset lovers might want
to take a seat at Borda d’Agua for a drink and a beautiful view.

Olhão

Olhão must be one of the most charming towns to visit in the Algarve. It’s known for its fresh
produce market in the whole area. The municipal market consists of two red-brick buildings. In one
building is the largest fish market in the area and in the other building a big fruit and vegetable
market.

Olhão has rough and urban looks with a mix of the authentic Portugese lifestyle. Just how we like it!
The best way to take in this small town is to go for a stroll through the narrow streets. Make sure to
have a break at Kubidoce for the best pastries or Figo de Pita for a delicious brunch. In need of
dessert? Get something sweet at Delicia de Olhao and enjoy it from one of the benches overlooking
the harbour.
